Mastering General Settings: Branding & Access Control

Overview of General Settings

The General Settings area (Blog > Settings > General) is where you control the core behavior and visual identity of your PolyCMS installation. Two of the most powerful features available here are the Branding Display Modes and CMS Privacy Access Control.

Flexible Branding: Customize Your CMS Header

Your blog or knowledge base should perfectly reflect your brand identity. PolyCMS gives you granular control over how your branding is displayed in the CMS header via the Branding Display Mode option. It supports four distinct configurations:

  1. Show Both: Displays both your company logo and brand name side-by-side.
  2. Show Logo Only: Hides the text and focuses entirely on your visual mark.
  3. Show Brand Name Only: A clean, text-based header ideal for minimal themes.
  4. Hide Both: Removes core branding entirely, giving you a blank canvas if you prefer to build a fully custom header using MTBuilder or a custom theme hook.

Secure Your Content: CMS Privacy & Staff Portals

Sometimes you don't want your CMS to be public. The CMS Privacy feature allows you to configure your entire blog or documentation hub to be completely private, accessible only to users who are logged into Perfex CRM.

  • Internal Staff Wikis: Create a private knowledge base where employees can find company policies without exposing them to the internet.
  • Client-Only Portals: Restrict access so that only active clients with a Perfex CRM portal account can read premium tutorials and help desk articles.

Under the Privacy settings, simply toggle "Require Perfex Login to Access CMS". Once enabled, any unauthenticated visitor attempting to view a blog post or page will be automatically redirected to the Perfex CRM login screen.
